CURATORIAL RESIDENCY & SEMINAR APRIL 2007 DARTINGTON COLLEGE OF ARTS

RESIDENCY

Sergio Edelsztein, Director of the Center for Contemporary Art, Tel Aviv will undertake a three-week curatorial residency at Dartington College of Arts between 4 – 25 April 2007.

His residency will focus on researching questions around globalisation of curatorial practices that follow the economic phenomenon, the legitimisation of ‘peripheral art’ and the urge made by the art market to adopt and absorb distinct ethnographic practices and styles.

Curating the Other: The Curator as Tourist

The curatorial residency will conclude with a public seminar at Dartington College of Arts on Saturday 21 April, where Sergio Edelsztein will discuss the topic with an international panel of curators;
Paul Domela (Liverpool, UK), Yacouba Konaté (Abidjan, Ivory Coast) and Matei Bejenaru (Iasi, Romania). The seminar will be chaired by Professor Antonia Payne (Dean of Research at Dartington
College of Arts).
